My name is Amy Kate Irwin, the artist behind Amy Kate Doll Designs. I specialize in hand-painting and hair rooting lifelike silicone art dolls, creating highly detailed and realistic collectible doll art. ​From the time I was a little girl, I took a special interest in arts and crafts. Both of my grandmothers were very talented and taught me how to sew, crochet, and create many different crafts.  As a child, I especially loved playing with baby dolls and even began making my own dolls from socks, fabrics, and stuffing, sewing buttons on for eyes and using whatever materials I could find around the house to create them.

Baby dolls were always at the top of my Christmas wish list. In the weeks leading up to Christmas, I would leave pictures torn from department store catalogues around the house as hints to my parents of the doll I was dreaming of. Receiving a baby doll for Christmas was the ultimate gift for me.

​

I have always loved baby dolls, so it is no surprise that today I have fallen in love with silicone baby dolls that look and feel so much like a real baby. I now find great joy in transforming blank silicone babies into beautiful, lifelike dolls through the processes of hand-painting and hair rooting.

​

As a self-taught artist, I have spent many hours studying, practicing, and patiently working to learn the art of painting multi-tonal, lifelike baby skin on silicone dolls, as well as the art of hair rooting to complete the finished dolls you see in the gallery here on my website. I am always striving to improve and grow in my craft. I put my heart and soul into every baby I create, hoping that the buyer will be touched by the detail and love placed into the doll and will cherish it for many years to come.

Over time I have discovered that people collect dolls for many different reasons, all of which I deeply respect. One of the greatest joys of my work is meeting kind and wonderful people from all over the world and learning a little about them and their life stories.

I am a wife and the mother of a son and a daughter, and I am a strong believer in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

​

Jesus Christ is the most wonderful Father and friend if we will simply seek Him. He is faithful, and His love never fails. He is a forgiving Lord who offers us the sweetest love of all.
